Hryniewicz Law Office
Welcome to our website.
The law office of Tomasz Hryniewicz, legal adviser (radca prawny), was founded in 2000. It provides ongoing and one-off legal services to businesses, associations, foundations and private individuals. The office specialises in commercial law, life and non-life insurance law, and copyright law.
A team of experienced lawyers provides legal assistance in the full scope set out in the Act on Legal Advisers. The office currently provides ongoing legal services to a dozen or so clients from across Poland. Many years of professional experience let us assess each individual problem carefully and reliably. We are aware that not every case can be won, but the office's job is to propose the best possible solution. The office's mission is to build transparent, long-term relationships with clients, based on mutual trust.
Hryniewicz Law Office is based in Bydgoszcz, near Gen. J. H. Dąbrowski Park and the historic Water Tower. We are easy to find: the tower, built at the edge of a slope in 1900 by Franz Marschall, rises above the Old Town and is the highest viewpoint in Bydgoszcz.

How we work
Legal assistance is provided in the full scope set out in the Act on Legal Advisers. We work with clients in person – at the office or at the client’s premises – and remotely, by phone and email. Our help covers oral consultations, advice, written legal opinions, and representation in and out of court. We help both in court (and then in enforcement proceedings) and out of court: negotiations with counterparties, mediation, out-of-court settlements, and review of draft contracts, legal acts and standard contract terms, including general terms and conditions of insurance.
We work under an ongoing engagement (an agreement for ongoing legal services) or under a one-off agreement (handling a single case). An ongoing engagement gives the client a sense of legal security and a guarantee that current legal problems are solved quickly, before a dispute arises. Hryniewicz Law Office cares a great deal that our clients get the highest quality service at an affordable price agreed in advance.
The office does not take on the economic risk of its clients’ business, nor does it share in their financial risk. This means we cannot base our fee solely on the outcome of a case, as a percentage of the amounts recovered from the client’s opponent. Nor can we make payment of our fee depend on whether the client’s debtor is able to pay. The Code of Ethics for Legal Advisers does not allow this.
Fees
Clients have different needs, so we offer very flexible ways of working together and setting fees:
hourly rate
– the fee is the number of hours worked multiplied by the hourly rate. At the end of each month the client receives from the office a statement of the hours worked for them, listing the work done. The smallest billing unit is 6 minutes (shown on the statement as 0.1 hour). This model is used by clients who have an agreement for ongoing legal services but who cannot predict in advance how much legal work they will need. Under an ongoing engagement the client pays only for work actually done, not for simply having the service available.
The client can still get legal assistance at any time that suits them.
flat fee
(possibly with a bonus for reaching the goal) – the fee is a sum agreed in advance. It is recommended for clients with clearly defined needs who want to know the cost of legal services up front and keep it fixed. For a flat fee the client gets help with a defined task, however many lawyers work on it and however much time they need. This fee can also be combined with a bonus for reaching the goal (a success fee): a set percentage of the amount recovered.
monthly flat fee with an hours cap
– the fee is a sum agreed in advance. It is recommended for clients who need ongoing support for a fixed monthly fee. The client has a set number of hours of the office’s lawyers’ time. Above that limit, the client pays an additional fee at a preferential hourly rate.
fees in administrative, court and enforcement proceedings
– the fee is set on the basis of the Regulation of the Minister of Justice of 22 October 2015 on fees for the services of legal advisers and on the State Treasury covering the costs of legal aid given by a court-appointed legal adviser (Journal of Laws (Dz. U.) of 2024, item 449, and Dz. U. of 2025, item 1172).
fee for a single task
– the office charges a set amount for each task (drafting a contract, oral advice, a legal opinion, attending a single hearing). This type of fee is meant for clients looking for one-off legal help.
Pro bono

Being a legal adviser is not only a profession but also a calling. It brings duties and obligations towards the community and one’s own country. Aware of the importance of contemporary art for the cultural development of the Republic of Poland, in 2011 the office of Tomasz Hryniewicz, legal adviser, began providing free, voluntary legal support to the “Moje Archiwum” (My Archive) Foundation, based in Koszalin.
The legal assistance covers the non-profit activities set out in the Foundation’s statutes. The Foundation’s main aim is to document and present the work of selected artists and developments in contemporary art, and to build and maintain a collection of documents, works of art, library holdings and archives.
